INSTALLATION

Install OpenRepair in your shop

Two commands: clone and run. No file editing, paid services or registration: your instance runs on your own server.

Requirements

  • ·Docker and Docker Compose (Docker Desktop on Mac/Windows, the docker package on Linux).
  • ·git to clone the repository (or download the ZIP from GitHub).
  • ·Nothing else: Flask and MariaDB run inside the containers. You don't install Python or a database yourself.

Two commands

  1. 01

    Clone the repository

Download the code from GitHub and enter the folder. That's all you need: docker-compose.yml already defines the web app and database.

    git clone https://github.com/robertocarrascoso/OpenRepair
  2. 02

    Start the containers

Docker builds the image, starts Flask and MariaDB, and serves the app. No file editing: .env is optional for local testing.

    docker compose up -d

Open http://localhost:8000 and sign in with admin@openrepair.com / admin123. This password is public: change it in the dashboard as soon as you sign in, or set your admin credentials in .env before the first launch. The database starts empty; add your own records from the dashboard.

Environment variables

The .env file is optional: every variable has a default and the app starts without it. For production, copy the template and change the passwords and session key before exposing the app to the internet.

cp .env.example .env

Generate your SECRET_KEY

The Flask session key must be random and secret. Generate one with Python:

python -c "import secrets; print(secrets.token_hex(32))"

Copy the result into SECRET_KEY in your .env file.

Ready to get started.

Clone the repository and start your shop with docker compose up. No file editing.
